Sandcastles are fun no matter how old you are!

Guest post written by Mary Douglas

I remember so many summers spent at the beach when I would spend half the day trying to construct the perfect sand castle, only to have it washed away overnight when the tide came in. But, I would never get discouraged and I would always go out again the next day to try and building another one, except bigger and better. Well, I think that my grandchildren got that exact same mentality for me because they seem to have the same strive to construct the perfect little sand castle.

I was online not too long ago before I was going to fly down and visit them for the summer when I found the site http://hearingaids.miracle-ear.com/hearing-locations/wisconsin/m/milwaukee/. I read through it and decided to get some hearing aids before I went to visit them. And that's exactly what I did.
As soon as they saw me at the airport they could tell that there was something different about me and after a few failed guesses I finally told them. We're going to have so much fun together this summer and I might just have to help them build some sandcastles while I'm visiting!

Pregnancy Update!

Well I went to my doctor appointment today for my regular check up. Been having some concerns dealing with my braxton hicks I was having so the doctor checked me. I haven't started dialting yet. Whew! I was worried because I have been having tons of braxton hicks here lately and some are like the ones you feel when it's time to push. So, I really wanted him to make sure all was well. He said I am closed and thick which is good.

Anyways last week on my birthday I had a fall. Praise God I caught myself and my belly barely touched the floor. But I have very bad ugly varicous veins in my left leg so I got a ugly bruise on that leg. Anyways the doctor told me to let him know if I have any cramping in that leg in my thigh as it could be a blood clot. He said since I fell it makes me more septical. I have only experienced Charlie Horses though so he said that wasn't a concern just cramps in the thigh. He said if I get any then I need to call him asap and he will schedule a deep vein sonogram.

I go back in 2 wks then it will be every week after that. Hard to believe I am on the downward hill of this pregnancy.

The best thing of the day was I got to have lunch with my mom and younger brother. She also treated me to Cold Stone! MMMMmmm!!! Got to love moms. I don't get to see her much as she leaves 30 mins away so if she is off when I have a doctor appointment we meet for lunch.

Ten Time Saving Tips To Make Your Life as a Mom Easier!

As a mom we are always busy chasing kids or cleaning up spills. Or doing something that takes up our time. Here are a few tips that save me time:

1. Get up early. I know some days it is easier said then done but I really like getting up early so that I can have that free time to get things done. It's kinda of hard trying to get stuff done with little ones in the way.

2. Go grocery shopping early in the morning or late at night. You can usually get in and out pretty quick during those times. I for one hate grocery shopping it's my very least favorite thing to do.

3. Prepack your diaper bag! Oh this is a must! I always make sure to check everything the night before and pack extra clothes and diapers or pull ups. Never hurts to have more then not enough!

4. Pay your bills online. I have to say this saves a lot of time. We have it set up actually where our bank pays our bills. I love this feature as all we have to do is go in and check it once a month.

5. Make your grocery list early! I can't stress this one enough. I start making mine as soon as I see things are running low. If they are items on sale that you know you are going to need in the next couple weeks go ahead and stock up instead of waiting till you run out.

6. Give your kids chores. I can't say this enough. Even if they are little enlist them in something they can do. I have my 3 1/2 yr old who loves to help fold the rags. It's something so simple but something she can do. She feels included. Plus this will lighten your load.

7. Keep the laundry going. I hate when my laundry piles up. But with a house my size we are always washing at least 1 to 2 loads a day. But it's better to keep it done up then to let it pile up. Fold as soon as it's done drying really helps save time.

8. Cook ahead. It doesn't hurt to cook a couple meals ahead of time and freeze them. You never know when it might come in handy. Or you don't have time to throw something together. I love having homemade ready made meals ready. You get the great feeling of cooking the whole meal but without the wait!

9. Make a menu. I always make a menu for the week. It makes life easier and I know what I have for what. I do allow leeway so that I have 2 extra meals and I can change them around to fit my schedule.

10. Take some me time! This is a must have for every mom. I usually take my me time when all the kids are in bed. I put them down at a reasonable hour and get a hour of me time.

What tips do you have to save time?

I wrote this blog post while participating in the SocialMoms and Starbucks blogging program, for a gift card worth $30. For more information on how you can participate, click here.

How are you showing your patriotic support this summer?

With Memorial Day behind us and Independence Day right around the corner how are you showing your patriotic support this summer?

We usually have a 4th of July get together with our church family! We have several people in our church that are in the military or retired veterans. We always are showing our appreciation for them. Not only that but we have a pretty decent size army base right here in our city.

We have done things in the pass like make quilts for the wounded overseas to also show our support for the troops. But this year I am thinking we will work on making a care package to send to a friend of ours overseas. I am thinking of including some simple easy foods like Hormel Pepperoni Stixs, Hormel Chilli, or maybe some Hormel Snac*Cups. Of course don't forget some chocolate and some soda or gatorade. Of course some sweet cards from loving kids!

What ways are you showing your patriotic support?

Happy Birthday to me!

Well today is the day I am another year older. Boy does the time seem to fly by every year. It's hard to believe I am now 32. It just seems like yesterday I was a teenager.

I have to say my loving husband is full of surprises. I really wasn't expecting anything from him as all I wanted was some time alone with him with no kids. Not much to ask but since I am due in August I would love to have one more night away with no kids. As I know once this new little one arrives that won't be happening for a long time.

Well I actually got up shortly after him this morning. Which I must admit is the first time in a couple weeks because I just haven't been sleeping good being this huge. Anyways, he got me this beautiful yellow Calla Lily, a yummy smelling candle and a sweet card.

My sweet loving kids gave me a cute card as well!

So, we shall see if I get my night away or not. Either way I am happy! This weekend is usually the weekend we celebrate our birthday's together as his was just last week. So, we always just do something the weekend after mine as Father's Day is always the weekend of or before mine.

Happy Father's Day! Update!

Wanted to wish all those wonderful Dad's out their a Happy Father's Day!

This has been one crazy week here at my house! First off we deal with Hives which we are almost positive was a food allergy to something our little one never had before. Talk about freaking me out! Her hives finally completely disappeared after 4 days! Praise God!

Then my wonderful loving husband had his birthday this past Wednesday. Then of course tomorrow is Father's Day! I am kinda bummed as I order a card from the card store and it said it shipped earlier this week. I have not received it as it was missent! How that happened is beyond me but now we have no Father's Day Card. So, instead I made him a college from Walgreens! I am so bummed though I put alot of thought into that card. Oh well!

To make things great we are now officially done with school! Wooohooo! If I could run and shout I would but instead I will have to walk and shout. I was beginning to think this school year would never end as my 10 yr old had to finish up her math. She finished yesterday! So, glad too as I am hoping to relax Tuesday and enjoy my birthday!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Wordless Wednesday!

I finally decided to get a updated picture of the kids for their Father's Day card.

We have been dealing with

Hives! My poor baby had a allergic reaction to something she ate. So, it's been no picnic this week and it sure does make a mommy feel horrible.

Do you hate having your shirt ride up? Or better yet that it just seems like your shirts are just too short? If your answer is yes then you will love hip-T!

I recently received a hip-T to try. What is a hip-T? A hip-T is a layering accessory must have for your hips! Potty Training Woes!

As many of you know I have been working on my now 2 yr old potty training. We been working on this for about 4 months now and it has been up and down. I have dealt with stubborn headedness before and seems we are back on that track. I wish I had started with her like I did her 3 1/2yr old sister Faith at 8 months. I had her completely potty trained no accidents by 18 months.

Everyone I know always says girls are easier well in my experience and I have tons now with girls since I got 4 in a row. My boys were easier to potty train with the exception of Faith she was easy as pie.

The thing with Hannah here lately is we have gone several weeks just having pooing in her panties then for 4 days in a row she just decided she was going to pee in her panties as well. Of course she don't like it so she goes and takes off her wet ones and puts them in the dirty clothes. So, their is no doubt this little girl knows when she got to go. She been doing good telling me. I wish I could find some onesies in her size as now she takes off her diaper in her bed when she wakes up from nap or bedtime. The last 2 days she took it off and pooped in her bed. Now she goes around takes off her panties and poops on the floor.

Please tell me I am not the only one going through this! I have never had one do this at all. It's really weird. As I could always tell when my others had to go not her though. The wonderful joys of motherhood! I do know this will pass one way or another. I just really like her to poop in the potty sooner then later.

Expressiva Nursingwear Review and Giveaway!

I recently found Expressiva Nursingwear! I have to say I just love finding nursing clothes that are cute and functional. I don't know about you but it's really hard to find clothes that are breastfeeding accessible.

So, I was very excited although I am not breastfeeding at this time but will be in about 2 months. I have very rarely found dresses that are nursing accessible. So, I got the Flower Shrug Dress.

It comes down to my knees pregnant due to the belly but fits great! It's made of light weight fabric which is perfect for our hot summer weather! They also carry some cute night gowns, shirts, swim suits and many more nursing clothes! It was really hard to chose as I wanted them all.

I thought was really neat is they had a swim suit that was nursing accessible. I for one have never seen one of those before.

Plus, now I can feel stylish and pretty and still nurse my baby. Before I would just not wear dresses as it was crazy to even try to nurse in them as they just weren't made for it. Now I can! I am going to so enjoy it. No more just wearing skirts and shirts to church.

Expressiva Nursingwear is offering one of my lucky readers a $30 Expressiva Gift Certificate! Open to US residents only!

Mandatory Entry: Sign up for Expressiva Nursingwear newsletter at the top left side. This must be completed before you can qualify for additional entries. All extra entries who don’t do the mandatory entry will be deleted. Please leave a valid email address in your comment as this is how I will contact you should you win.

Why I hate grocery shopping!

Friday is always my grocery shopping day. I usually go in the evenings when hubby is home. But the last couple times I have had to go during the day because of plans we have on Friday nights. Well, today I made my trip to Walmart. I try to go to one place and just comp ads to save time and gas money.

Had all my comps done no problem at all. Handed the cashier my coupons she scans them but of course the lady behind me had started talking to me so I didn't pay much attention. She goes oh you are a extreme couponer. I was like no ma'am I am not. I am just trying to save some money.

Anyways on my way home I look at my receipt and notice that almost $8 of my coupons I gave the cashier wasn't taken off. I call Walmart and talk to someone. They said come back. So after coming home unloading all my groceries I go back. What a headache! I was afraid they wouldn't be able to as the cashier had my coupons. They went to the cashier and pulled all her coupons which were just mine. Yay! I got my money back! So, be sure to watch the cashier and not be side tracked. Ugh! From here on out either hubby goes or we do it another day!
