Appetizer Ideas!

With Christmas fast approaching I am always looking for quick appetizers for my guest. One of my favorites is a Hormel Party Tray.

It has everything you need to satisfy your guest. I got a couple of these for our church Christmas Party and they where a huge success. Another great idea is a veggie tray! Make it colorful as that is the key to how we eat. I love to make mine with celery, baby carrots, bell pepper, tomatoes, and olives. Or make a fruit tray. These are great too. Try different colors like green apples or red delicious or both, grapes, blueberries, blackberries, and oranges. Spice it up and change it around.

These quick and simple appetizers are always a huge hit at any party I have been to or thrown for that matter.

If you are a super hurry and have not time I say go for the Hormel Party Tray. To save some money head over here and print a $3 off any Hormel Party Tray while you are at it.

Beyond Bedding Review!

I have been looking for some Baby Bedding for awhile for our newest edition and haven't found any until now! I got this Pink and Purple Butterfly Baby Bedding 9 piece set from Beyond Bedding!

It comes with quilt, crib bumper, crib skirt (Dust Ruffle), fitted sheet, toy bag, decorative throw pillow, diaper stacker, and 2 window valances. I just love this set as it goes perfect with the quilt I have been working on for her.

They also have where you can design your own crib bedding which is great if you can't find exactly what you are looking for. I was looking at the option but when I saw the butterflies I had to have it.

Another great feature is if you have a picky teen you can make your own teen bedding as well! I have several teens now and it seems the girls are way more picky.

They have so many choices when it comes to bedding that I definitively recommend you check them out if you are in the market for new bedding.

Oral B-Stages Cars 2 Mommyparties!

I recently got the opportunity to host a Mommyparties sponsored by Oral-B and Crest Pro-Health. We got to view the movie Cars 2! The kids loved it of course. Some of them had seen it already and some where seeing it for the first time.

Everyone enjoyed themselves and the goodies they got to take home. They did get to try out some of the products and where impressed with the taste. Guess they where all expecting yucky mouthwash.

We had a great time! They mom's where happy with the samples they got to take home. It was a great time! Of course after eating all the junk I made all the kids go brush their teeth.

Disclosure: MomSelect and Oral-B selected me to host an in home party and provided me with products to host and for goody bags for my guests. I received no other compensation and my post is my unbiased opinion on my experience.

Visalus Protein Shake Review!

As a busy mom I most of the time forget to eat breakfast which we all know is a important meal. So, I was excited to get to try a new protein shake called Visalus. I have tried protein shakes before and they are gritty or nasty tasting. But Visalus is not! I am not kidding! I thought I was drinking something bad for me.

Let me tell you it taste like you are drinking a cake or a milkshake for that matter. It leaves no gritty taste at all. You will feel full for hours. I even let my kids try it and they loved it! What I did was I put one packet of powder in the blender with a cup of milk. I would then add 4-5 ice cubes and a banana and a tablespoon or more of peanut butter. It is yummy!

It's perfect for if you are on the run and need a quick meal replacement as you don't have time to stop and eat you can drink it. It is also a good option for a healthy snack. It is also another great way to lose weight which I am working on. But being a nursing mom I have to make sure I have my calories too.

I will say this I have lost 34 lbs since I had our newest edition and have tons more to lose.

This product comes in a 30 shake pouch. The powder mix comes with a 30 day money back guarantee and they are full of vitamins and minerals. The price is $49 for enough powder to make 30 shakes. It is sold thru independent distributors like Mary Kay, Avon, Tupperware, or the Pampered chef is.

You can learn more about the shakes here.

Couponing the Extreme Video Course Review!

I recently got to do a review of Couponing:The Extreme Video Course. It is a great beginner course for those new to couponing.

I would definitely recommend this course if you are a beginner or wanting to get into couponing. It is also perfect for those that don't have time to go to a local class. As you have access to tons of videos that you can watch over and over again. That way if you forget something you can watch it again with out the hassle of having to pay for another coupon class.

I have been couponing for 6 months now and have done all the things she talks about in the videos. I have saved tons of money on our grocery bill! I have a stock pile that will last us 6 months or better.

Don't get this coupon course mixed up with the show Extreme Coupons as it is nothing like that. She just shows you how to properly use coupons and apply them. I don't like that show Extreme Coupons as it gives us other couponers a bad name.

I have to say my biggest haul was at Publix right before Thanksgiving! My total was $400 before coupons and after I paid $81.80! How great is that! She also has many other useful links too!

Overall, the program is very useful I would totally recommended it for any new couponer!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Hartstrings Review!

I recently got this cute Black Dot and Striped Teired Dress from Hartstrings. I wasn't for sure what kind of dress we where getting or for who when I was chosen to try their clothes.

I will say this dress made my 2 yr old Hannah excited! She is obsessed with dresses more then ever now and of course loves new clothes! What little girl doesn't? So, thanks to Hartstrings for providing me with this cute dress!

I have to say I always thought Hartstrings was out of my price range but they do have some awesome sales in store or online! This dress retails for $50 but was on sale for $20. It is made of very soft cotton and cute as can be. I do have to get her some tights to go under it now that it's getting colder.

This is one dress that I had to cox her out of to wash it. Crazy I know but you got to do what you got to do. I will be shopping at Hartstrings again for sure! They have so many cute kids clothes and that's one thing I have tons of.

For Family Fun Continuum Games Review and Giveaway!

I love playing games with my family. We always try to have one night a family night. So, I was very excited to try out these new games. Family Talk 2 is a really simple game that helps your family get to talking! I love this game as you can do it during dinner or anytime for that matter.
Engage your family in meaningful conversations with this set of 100 exciting questions. You just simply pick a card, ask the question and get a surprising and often hilarious glimpse into the hearts and minds of your family members. This game is s fun and portable family game of conversations that keep busy families connected or any family for that matter. We had a nice time with this game as the kids got a glimpse into our childhood.
Next up is Lumps, The Elf Coal Game. This is one game whether naught or not you will love playing! Getting coal in your stocking has never been so much fun!
This is the  most addictive family dice game you’ll ever play! The goal is to score the most points in three rolls by rolling pairs of the same number. Roll a pair of 3s, score 3 points…a pair of 10s scores 10 points. What makes the game unique is that it has four different types of dice and there are few high numbers. On each turn you have to make decisions on which dice to keep and re-roll. Do you play it safe and hold a pair of 4s, or chance it and try for a high pair? The endless possibilities make Lumps exciting and addictive. Great stocking stuffer!
This is one of my kids favorite games to play. We have played several dice games over the years and this one is by far unique due to the different shape dice.
Continuum Games is offering one of my lucky readers their very own Family Talk 2 and Lumps the elf coal game! Open to US residents only!

Switching up those traditonal side dishes!

My family and friend's all time favorite side dish for the holiday's is my Hashbrown Casserole! It's one that my family has done for as long as I can remember. Kinda of like the chicken and dressing I do every year too.

So, this year I added a little surprise to it by throwing in Hormel Chunk meats. I used the chicken breast. Of course this add twisted was a hit!

Here is the yummy recipe:

1 package of Hashbrowns
1 can of cream of chicken soup
1 tub of sour cream
4 cups of shredded cheddar

Mix the cream of chicken soup with the sour cream till blended. Then toss in the hashbrowns and mix up. Lastly you will toss the cheddar cheese in and mix up. The spray your dish with non stick spray. Bake at 375 for 1 hour or till a golden brown.

I of course added Hormel Chicken Breast as a added ingredient or you could add  Spam for more flavor as well. This was a one time deal just to change it up. But to keep everyone happy I will probably keep it the same.

Boba Baby Carrier Review and Giveaway!

I have been in the market for a baby carrier since I had our 7th child. It's always hard to find the right one with the right fit. It can be aggravating as I tried to find one with my previous one and never liked any of them. I have a wrap that I used with our 6th that I loved but of course my husband wouldn't wear it! Plus, he said it took too long for me to get it on and just right.

So, this time I did a search for a baby carrier and found the Boba Baby Carrier. I selected the Kangaroo print which I think is adorable! I really think the carrier needs to be renamed sleepy time as my 3 month old seems to just go straight to sleep once I put her in it.

She loves it! It is very comfortable unlike most carriers. The wide padded straps don't dig into you making it uncomfortable after a while of wearing. I also love the hoody that comes with it. So, when your little one is alseep you can put the hoody over their head to not only help support it but keep it nice and dark. Their are also tabs that go over your purse strap and snap down keeping your purse from falling off your shoulder. I really love this feature!

I took this carrier for a test drive on my 3 hour shopping trip and it scored a A+. I can't wait to try it out as a backpack for hiking trips in the future.

Now you can enter to win your own Boba :

Thanksgiving Food Tips and Giveaway!

The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates that 80 percent of foodborne illnesses are linked to meat and poultry, so proper handling and cooking is essential.

Here are 10 tips to help ensure safe handling and preparation of foods this holiday season:

1.    Don't let uncooked turkey sit at room temperature. Shop for a turkey last and get it home and refrigerated promptly. Bag the turkey separately and place it below other food in the refrigerator.

2.    Don't attempt to thaw a frozen turkey quickly by leaving it sit overnight on a kitchen counter. Use one of the following methods:
a.     Option I – Refrigerator Method. Keep the turkey in its original wrapper and place in a shallow pan on the lowest shelf of the refrigerator. It may take several days for a large turkey to thaw (plan for a thawing time of 4 – 5 hours per pound of turkey). A turkey that has been thawed in this way can remain in the refrigerator for 1 or 2 days before cooking.
b.    Option II - Cold Water ThawingAllow about 30 minutes per pound. Place the turkey in a leak-proof plastic bag and submerge the wrapped turkey in cold tap water. Change the water every 30 minutes until the turkey is thawed. Cook the turkey immediately after it is thawed.
c.     Option III – Microwave Thawing. Since microwave oven performance varies, check your owner's manual for the size turkey that will fit in your microwave oven, the minutes per pound and power level to use for thawing. Remove all outside wrapping and place the turkey on a microwave-safe dish to catch any juices that may leak. Because some areas of the turkey may become warm and begin to cook during microwaving, a turkey thawed in the microwave must be cooked immediately.

3.    Don’t wash your turkey. There's no need to wash your turkey before your cook it. If you do, bacteria from raw poultry can splash onto worktops, dishes and other foods. Proper cooking will kill bacteria. If you choose to rinse your turkey, such as after brining, be very careful about splashing water and disinfect your sink and all other nearby surfaces thoroughly afterwards.

4.    Never place an uncooked turkey directly on the counter; keep it on a platter or in a roaster. Clean and sanitize the counter as well as any dishes or utensils that came into contact with raw turkey or its juices.

5.    Don’t forget to wash your hands thoroughly immediately after handling raw turkey, using plenty of warm water and soap. Given that the holidays occur during cold and flu season, make sure that any guests who come into the kitchen to help wash their hands as well to avoid the spread of germs and illness. The scrubclub.org provides some handwashing tips.

6.    Use a thermometer to check for doneness, even if the turkey has a pop-up timer. Check the internal temperature in the innermost part of the thigh and wing as well as the thickest part of the breast. When the temperature reaches 165° F at all three locations, the turkey should be done.

7.    For optimum safety, don’t stuff your turkey. Since it’s difficult to cook stuffing evenly when it’s packed inside a turkey, consider cooking stuffing in a separate casserole dish. If you do choose to stuff, wait to do so until right before putting the turkey in the oven. Use only pre-cooked meats and vegetables in the stuffing mixture, pack the stuffing loosely, and cook the stuffing until it reaches at least 165° F at the center.

8.    Refrigerate or freeze any leftovers immediately. Large portions should be separated into smaller containers and covered loosely to speed cooling.

9.    Properly reheat before you eat: Any pre-cooked dishes as well as leftovers need to be reheated to 165 degrees in order to kill any looming bacteria. Microwave ovens tend to heat food unevenly; keeping food loosely covered allows heat to better circulate throughout food. Use a food thermometer and check the temperature in multiple locations to make sure no cold spots are left. Refrigerated turkey, stuffing, and gravy should be eaten within 3 to 4 days.

10.  Sanitize your dishcloths or sponges on a regular basis, or use disposable cloths: A contaminated dishcloth can house millions of bacteria after a few hours of use. In fact, an NSF International Germ Study found that the kitchen dish rag /sponge is the germiest place in the home.  Since Thanksgiving is a busy day in the kitchen, and it may be hard to keep track of dishcloth use, consider using paper towels to clean up and then throw them away immediately.

One lucky reader will receive the following:
(NSF Certified) Tupperware

What mom on wheels=crazy? Heelys Review!

I have heard of Heelys and seen kids wear them around stores heeling. They make it look so easy! So, when I got the opportunity to try them I jumped at the chance! I want my kids to think of me as a cool mom.

When I received my Heelys I tried them on first and walked around in them to help break them in. Then I took the tabs off the bottom and inserted the wheels. You would think heeling would be easy. Nope! I almost lost it a couple times. After trying for over a hour and not getting it I put them up. I then decided to watch the how to skate video. They made it look simple so I got my oldest son to pull me around till I got my balance point. Once I got that down after having him pull me around I started heeling! I was so excited! I could heely!

Let me tell you for a fact don't expect to get these shoes and be able to start heeling right off that for one won't happen. I do suggest watching the video it really helped me grasp the whole concept. I was so thankful I didn't fall on my butt. My husband thought I was crazy and going to hurt myself the whole time. I do love my Heelys but I promise you won't see me heeling at the store anytime soon.

Now, Heelys has the Heels HX2 which has 2 removeable wheels in each shoe making it ideal for younger kids and beginners. They are not only easier to maintain balance but they don't require much leg strength to lift up your toes to skate which I will say takes lots and lots of practice. Later after mastering balance you can convert these to normal Heelys by taking out the front wheel.

If your wanting Heelys for Christmas? Heelys is throwing a Black Friday special that you may want to take advantage of if Heelys are on your or your child's Christmas wish list. Between Nov 25- Nov 28, buy any pair of Heelys, and you'll get the second pair for $25. There's also a deal on Nano. Buy a Nano, and get a pair of shoes for $25, and get free ground shipping on all orders!
